All of the men failed the the DLC III exam in Santa Ana! Denise Padres promoted by Angela Bradstreet, commissioner to vow more workplace inequality?

What a shock that the men (in the Santa Ana office) failed the recent DLC III exam, and what a shock that Labor Commissioner Angela Bradstreet promoted a non-man to Deputy Chief; boy, I didn't see that one coming!
You see, I expected Bradstreet's flunkies to do Bradstreet's bidding; that's what flunkies do (they cannot act on their own accord). And in this agency, flunkies are rewarded. Commissioner Bradstreet had a choice for Deputy Chief: promote an asshole (Greg Rupp) or milquetoast (Denise Padres), and at the end of the day, milquetoast won.
This place is soooooo f*cked up: according to these agency assholes, people who should have passed the DLC IV exam have flunked it, and people who should have passed the DLC III exam have flunked it. This means they've selected who they want to promote and are clearing the way for the next generation of assholes...someone's gotta replace Abigael Calva, Greg Rupp, and Susan Nakagama. Not even those losers can work forever (although none of them have any lives outside the job, so they're not looking to retire).

?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????YOU ARE SO!!!!!!!!!!!RIGHT. I HAD ALL (8) QUESTIONS IN ADVANCE, STUDIED UP FOR THEM AND ACED THE ORAL. GUESS WHAT, I DIDN'T EVEN MAKE IT ON THE LIST. I HAVE TAKEN THIS TEST FOR MANY YEARS AND HAVE ALWAYS BEEN AT THE TOP OF THE LIST. NOW I GET A REJECTION SLIP SAYING I AM NOT QUALIFIED. WHAT THE F---K!! IT APPEARS THAT IF YOU WANT TO GET AHEAD, DO NOT BE MALE. THE NEW LABOR COMMISSIONER AS WELL AS OTHER TOP APPOINTED LESBIANS ARE DOING THERE BEST TO TAKE OVER STATE GOVERNMENT. IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE IT, LOOK AT THE VARIOUS DEPARTMENT HEADS AND WHO THEY ARE HIRING. THAT'S RIGHT, FEMALES, FEMALES AND MORE FEMALES.

Gotta disagree with you there, boys. Denise didn't get this job 'cause she's a woman. Nope, she got this job, like her other promotions since May 2005, 'cause she was the author of DLSE's very first precedent decision in the Hartwig case. That's right, the one that said the extra hour of pay for not getting a meal period is a penalty, not a wage, with just a one year statute of limitations. The Supremes gave that precedent decision the heave ho, in a seven to zip decision, but what the heck, Denise did her part for Steroid Boy (the Governor, not the ball player) and his pals over at the Chamber of Commerce and WalMart. And with that, her career took off like a rocket.

So stop mopping about your gender and your heterosexuality, boys. If you wanna move up the ladder, just do your part, trash the labor code, and screw over as many California workers as possible. Don't waste your time enforcing labor standards, that's for losers. Get with the program. Do your part for corporate power and Arnie's pals will leave some crumbs for you too.

Let me play Devil's Advocate here, if not Denise who? In your opinion who would have made a better more qualified choice? Also, in your opinion who do you think is going to be selected for Denise's position, and why? Who do you think should be selected and why?

THIS EXAM SOUNDS THE SAME AS THE PHONY EXAMS JIM CULBEAUX (CREATOR OF THE FAILED CMS SYSTEM) GAVE A FEW MONTHS AND ABOUT A YEAR AGO. SINCE THESE PHONY EXAMS ADMINISTERED AND ORCHESTERED BY DIR ARE SO WIDESPREAD AMONGST ALL DIVISIONS, THEY DEFINATELY HAVE THE BLESSING OF DIR DIRECTOR JOHN DUNCAN.

Hey, Devil's Advocate. IMHO more qualified choices for the deputy chief job include Henry Huerta and Ellen Schaffer. But I'm afraid neither of them has the WTKTMB (willingness to kiss top management butt) that is so necessary for advancement at DLSE. Besides, neither of them wrote a precedent decision that could have saved WalMart $50,000,000. All they've done is train and inspire their staff to enforce the laws DLSE is supposed to enforce. That just won't cut it.

In answer to the Anonymous comment who said who else if not Denice Padres? I don't know who else but I do know why not. Ms. Padres wrote a precedent decision that embarrassed our whole division. She may not really have written the decision, but she allowed her signature to be attached to the bottom of it. That decision was ripped apart by the California Supreme Court. It made us look as though we were pro employer and anti employee. Then the appeals court let us know that in no uncertain terms that we had violated the law by not enforcing the law in a timely manner. I take it Ms. Padres was a deputy two when she wrote the decision and now she is going to be a Deputy six. That is quite a reward for doing the wrong thing. On the other hand there was one voice crying out in the wilderness saying don't do it. What happen to him? Miles Locker told all of management they were making a mistake and what was his reward? He was fired and hasn't been given his day in court yet. I can a sure you that no one will go to the governors office and let him know that we our understaffed and we can not comply with Corrales until we have enough bodies to do it under Ms. Padres leadership. Her tract record is terrible and every one on the frontline will pay for it except Ms. Padres

It is amazing that how the DIR divisions, DLSE and IT get away with running biased State merit based exams. From these comments, it seems obvious that the candidates are all pre selected by the managers and there are no fair competitions. Has any DIR staff contacted SPB or other State agenies responsible for these kind of fradulant exams conducts ?

From what I heard there were 2 persons in the IT Department that challenged the exams held there. The SPB investigated those exams and found some sort of fraud. Recommendation was to throw out the exams and punish Jim Culbeaux and Dan Nishijima. DIR Legal chose to throw out exams only.

IT Folks know that DIR Legal is heavily involved in the exam process and hence no action taken on Jim Culbeaux or Dan Nishijima or else they may reveal the conspiracy.

I am sure DIR Legal is invollved in our DLSE exam process as well. Hence the fraud.

It is interesting that DIR internally investigate these IT or DLSE exams and had to invalidate their eligible lists due to illegal conducts. It looks that DIR did what it had to do. However, the people found responsible for these fraudulent conducts had to be disciplined accordingly. I do not think there have not been any disciplinary consequences for these mangers, Dan Nisijama and Jim Calbouex.

Please correct me if I am not reading this right. This is definitely the jurisdiction of the State Personnel Board to investigate these kinds of illegal conducts by the State agencies.

I have read all of the comments. the bottom line, Nance Steffen should have been put into this position. I know how most of you feel about her, but the bottom line, she is the most qualified. That has been the biggest promblem with this division. They keep passing up Nance. What a shame. I know because if you really give her a chance, she really is a good person. Tust me I worked for her and I know how difficult she can be, but I would rather have her since she she is so smart than to have someone else just because they know how to kiss ass.

Yeah, there are some here at DIR who have a full time job bending over. And they have nerve to tell us that SPB is giving fair exams. We know that is not true. DIR Management scum have their counterparts who are appointed by the muscle brain and are more than happy to taint the exams for DIR.

I don't know who you are macho man, but you really sound like a loser. You cannot believe that you have failed your exams because you are a male. Let me tell you something buddy, I was an exam analyst for many years and the process is not only fair, but I would never risk my position to do something that is not right. The Exam Unit of the Department is an extension of the SPB. We are required to comply with all of their rules and regulations. I would never put my self in a position to compromise any exam. These employees in this unit are hard working and are making sure that the process is within the merits of the SPB. So just shut up. We are tried of hearing you wind and wind Mr. Whimp. Grow up and move on.

re above comment... Exam analyst at DIR we have seen many of those loosers. You should hang your head in shame for being a part of that unit. Do not act as if you know something when you don't. We have seen evidence that the exams were tampered with by you analyst douche bags. We have also seen the evidence on DLSE DLC and that the IT exams were thrown out.

So you looser analyst, learn from your fellow analysts and bend over take orders and get shaft-d till your ass is pale.

What else is new? Reverse racism or corruption among rank and file, both professionals and among office techs? One deputy assigned elsewhere may be selling insider info (example - identity of subject of wage audit sweeps) to "consultants". You know how that works. How can any honest person work in such an environment? By the way, has Personnel verified the legal residence or US citizenship status of DLSE employed in these offices? I suspect there could be substantial number of surprises. :))
