DLSE supervisors chill for a few days in Irvine for supervisors meeting at the Atrium while there's no money for important stuff...so they say

Out of the whole lot of them, there are a few DLSE supervisors who are worth their weight in gold. Sadly, most of them don't have the backbone to ask the hard questions and pose them to the ones mandating the bureaucrat convention. For the next supervisor's meeting, they can start with some of these questions:
1) Can you itemize the costs attributed to the supervisors' meeting in Irvine while the busiest wage claim office in California goes without a safety barrier?
2) In this age of technology, why are we wasting the taxpayer's money in airline fees, per diem expenses, and lodging fees with these boring, face-to-face snore fests?
3) Why is it that the DLSE brass can do whatever they want with the taxpayer's money, but the minute something might bite them in the ass, they sing the "there's no money in the budget" song?
4) Will there ever be any fiscal tranparency with the costs associated with the CMS project that is half-ass (at best), and a complete fraud/waste of the taxpayer's money (at worst)?

This isn't the first flagrant waste of taxpayer money and it won't be the last. Let's go back in time when there was a budget crunch in California and Governor Davis was thrown out of office. Guess where the Senior meeting was held that year? You got it, Lake Tahoe!!! This time it was discovered by the Sacramento Bee as well as other newspapers.Vicki Bradshaw took a beating on that one. Vicki did survive this scandal. Believe it or not, there was a request that same year for a security barrier to be installed in the Santa Ana office.Guess why that request was turned down? You got it, budget problems. Is there a trend developing here. Now it is 2007 and there is still no security barrier in the Santa Ana office. Maybe because that money is being used for Hearing Officer training in beautiful downtown Burbank (another $20-30,000) down the tubes. Don't get me wrong, Burbank is close to Universal studios, Hollywood and all other assorted night life. I understand that the Seniors were very impressed with the open bar and all you can eat buffet in Robert Jones suite at the Senior Meeting in Irvine. I would like to review his travel expense claim. Anyway, it will be interesting to see which lowly paid civil servant in the Santa Ana office is going to take the proverbial "bullet" for the department.

The word on the street is that the enforcer (Greg Rupp)told Jorge that he will see nothing, hear nothing and say nothing. Jorge was also warned to stop the numerous E-mails flowing from the Santa Staff to headquarters concerning security in the S.A. office. This has become an embarrassment to upper management. What's next, broken knee caps?

I have to give credit where credit is due. Vicki Bradshaw is a brilliant administrator. Think about it. The last (3)-(4) labor commissioners have been appointed but not confirmed. Who needs an unqualified, incompetent but ruthless labor commissioner to be confirmed. You appoint them, let them do all the diry work such as firing staff and then you let them go. I love it when a plan comes together.

There is no fiscal transparency associated with the CMS. The millions of dollars that was allocated for this project was all spent and a non functional system was delivered to the State. I am sure there will be issues raised by the DLSE staff when they can’t do their jobs using CMS.

The expenditure and misuse of money on the CMS contract has to be audited by the appropriate State Agency.
