Member of the public refuses to leave DLSE office at 5pm, 2 women fearful, and still no safety barrier for the DLSE
On Monday, 02/26/2007, a man refused to leave the Santa Ana DLSE office. Becky and Vicki tried calling the CHP (no such luck), then tried contacting building security (not to be found), then tried the building manager (nothing there, either). Eventually, the guy left...but what if he hadn't? This is why I have nicknamed Acting Labor Commissioner Robert Jones "The Joke." Robert Jones would rather investigate the blogger than fix this legitimate concern. Ask him about the safety barrier in Santa Ana, and he vomits nothing but excuses. Ask him about CMS, and he spews the same...excuse after excuse after excuse. The end result of this inaction is that there's no safety barrier, and a day may come where a member of the public will jump across that counter and assault those female DLSE workers. This is how powerful managers in the DLSE act: in their self-serving individual interests (send Lee Pearson and Richard Munoz after the blogger) and not the interests of the group (Santa Ana doesn't need safety glass and extend the deadline for CMS)..

It appears that time has come for the Santa Ana Office Staff to handle this matter in the only way headquarters understand. Set a deadline for the installation of a security barrier. When the deadline passes it's "blue flu" time. Massive absences every day will totally piss off the public which in turn will put pressure on management to rectify this situation. The other option would be a total slow down in the processing of claims, conferences and hearings. Reschedules, continuances and delays will again totally piss off the public. You would think the safety of the state employees working in the Santa Ana office would take priority but it appears that Senior Meetings and Training sessions at $20,000-$30,000 a clip are at the top. I would suggest an alternative for management to consider since money is not a problem. How about martial arts training or fire arms training or how to negotiate your way out of being beat up or shot by irate or unstable members of the public. Management could at least provide people at the counter with mace and bullet proof vests or this too costly. Just a thought!!!!
No republicans managing DLSE. You got your information WRONG again. Strike your out.
Who signed the multi milion dollars contract for the CMS computer system, DLSE Management and/or the head of the DIR IS Unit ?
Who are the people responsible for the CMS fiasco ?
Concern California State taxpayer
